1. Top Pakistani Military Official Meets with President el‑Sisi

On July 30, 2025, Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, formally met with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el‑Sisi in New Alamein City.

The talks focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in defence and security, with a particular emphasis on counterterrorism and regional strategic collaboration. 

2. 3rd Round of Defence and Security Talks in Cairo

General Mirza led the third installment of Pakistan–Egypt Defence and Security Talks, meeting with key figures including:

Egyptian Armed Forces Chief of Staff, Admiral Osama Mounier Rabie

Discussions covered deepening military‑to‑military ties, joint training, defence exercises, institutional cooperation, and counter-extremism strategy. Egyptian leaders praised Pakistan’s professionalism and its contributions against terrorism. 

3. ISPR Highlights Religious Outreach

In a notable intersectoral engagement, General Mirza also met with Grand Imam of Al‑Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Mohamed El‑Tayeb, highlighting religious harmony as a fundamental component of combating extremism. 

4. Background: Prior Coordination & Military Cooperation

In September 2024, the 14th Pakistan-Egypt Military Cooperation Committee convened in Rawalpindi, focusing on cooperation across training, counterterrorism, security environments, and defence co-production. The 15th round was later agreed to be hosted in Egypt. 

In February 2024, Egypt and Pakistan conducted Raad‑1, a bilateral special forces exercise addressing counterterrorism collaboration.
